Grilling sweet potatoe fries will help you discover a new way to eat something you’ve probably been eating your whole life.

Sweet potatoes are usually associated with Thanksgiving and marshmallows. But in this time I tried out grilled sweet potatoes.

The grill works well in caramelizing the sugars in the sweet potato, which really brings out the taste. For today, we’re going to grill up some sweet potato fries.

 

Ingredients:

1.  1-2 Sweet Potatoes

2.  1 Lime (or lime juice)

3.  Cilantro

4.  Canola Oil

 

Preparation:

1.  First, boil your potatoes for about 10-15 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the water and cut off the top and bottom. Next, slice the potatoes into wedge shapes. To make the rest of the steps easier, place the wedges into a baking dish.

2.  Lightly brush the wedges with canola oil, and then squeeze the lime juice over the wedges. Heat up your grill, then be sure to brush the grates with canola oil to make sure the wedges don’t stick.

3.  Place the wedges onto the grate, and cook each side for 2-3 minutes. Remove the wedges from the grill, sprinkle with cilantro and serve.

4.  Keep in mind that sweet potatoes can be very large. Two sweet potatoes will easily be enough for a family of four, probably with some leftovers.

5.  This variation of sweet potatoes goes to show that even if you think you don’t like a type of food, changing the way its prepared can make all the difference.
